We are thrilled to announce that Joanne Smith will be joining Highgate International School Thailand as the Founding Head of Junior School. She will lead both the Pre-Prep and Junior schools (Pre-Nursery to Year 6).
With over 20 years of experience in international and UK education, Jo is an accomplished and highly respected leader with a proven track record in strategic leadership, curriculum innovation and staff development. Jo has spent the past 13 years working internationally, including in Thailand, Malaysia, Spain and Indonesia, where she has led schools to academic excellence and holistic student development. Her leadership has driven significant improvements in student outcomes, teacher development and community engagement.
Jo has a deep passion for Early Years and Junior School education. She sees this stage as a magical time of discovery and is dedicated to nurturing a warm, joyful and inspiring environment where young learners feel safe, curious and confident to explore the world around them.
Set to open in August 2026, the school will draw upon 460 years of educational expertise that will help to shape the future of international education in Thailand.
